Born in 1965 in the Piemonte region of Northern Italy, Franco Oberto has been working for many years in video montage and editing. In the last decade, stage photography for cinema, television and theatre productions has become his main professional activity. He has collaborated among other with Rai and Mediaset for TV commercials and musical videos. For the photographs taken on the set of the Italo-Argentinian film 'Soledad' in 2018, he was awarded the 'Cliciak - scatti di cinema' prize by the town of Cesena in Emilia-Romagna in partnership with the Cineteca foundation from Bologna.
In his own time, Franco Oberto is developing an artistic practice in the field of street and urban photography. He has realised other series of street photographs in Bangkok, London and Milan. These works have not yet been shown. An exhibition of a selected part of the 'On the Fly' series is scheduled for a solo show organised by Xenithia-Nomade Gallery in the second half of 2021 in Milan.
